I read a piece written by a Nigerian professor a while ago that spoke about the way western media representatives in Africa, selectively sift through all the possible good news within Africa and report only the bad and malicious to the world. He explained that they lodge themselves in luxurious African hotels with dreamy views, but ignore those skyscrapers and find local agents to take them to locations of poverty and despair. Without a doubt, there are no better people to tell of the beauty in Africa, than Africans themselves.

Without contention, Africa is a beauty. Nature did not hold back in blessing the entire continent, and there is so much colour and life to feed on. From its exotic wildlife, crystal waterfalls and lakes, indestructible mountains and rocks, to the overdose of fertile greens and exquisite flowers that blooms all over; Africa has just about all it takes to offer you all your eye cravings. Being that the holidays are at hand, finding the best vacation spot is a high priority. These places would not only offer you the much needed relaxation you crave, but it would also open your eyes to the beauty that lies within – at, maybe, even lower cost. Check them out.

Zanzibar Island is one heck of a tourist attraction, located somewhere within Tanzania. Zanzibar lies at the centre of the Indian Ocean experience in East Africa. Also known as the Spice Island, its rich culture and history has served as the very spice that has pulled in tourists across the world. This place is known for its beautiful beaches, spices and ivory that remain as part of their history, the ever lively Zanzibar market, and so much more. With the sight almost like it was cut out of a fairy tale, it is perfect for a vacation.

Seychelles is one Country that boasts of its beauty and colour. It is hard to think of one particular spot here, as there are so many options. There are over 100 islands that make up the Seychelles archipelago; however, Mahe, Praslin and La Digue are the general favourites. The beaches are powder white and quiet, you can go diving on the turquoise waters, visit the bubbling markets and so much more. As honeymoon destinations, locations like Constance Ephelia Resort and AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort and Spa would create the perfect illusion of paradise.

Cape Town is a city in South Africa with exquisite parks, gardens, mountains, and beaches. It is completely stunning and has become one of the top African vacation destinations. Some spots to watch out for include Robben Island, District Six Museum, Blaauwberg Beach, Table Mountain, Two oceans Aquarium, Seal Island, Sandy Bay, and much more. You would fall in love with the wine, exotic cuisine, culture, wildlife, and the traces of history they have all over. The experience is just unreal.

Described by CNN as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world, Victoria Falls, is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The sight would leave you in awe and make you wonder why you ever felt the need to travel across the continent for vacation. It is one of the greatest attractions in Africa and one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. If the view is not enough of an experience for you, there are cool activities like hiking that you can get involved in while there.

Tusk Rio Casino Resort

If your idea of beauty, fun or vacation spot is unconventional, then the Tusk Rio Casino Resort is perfect for you. This place stands as the largest casino located on the African continent and it lies within South Africa. This Brazilian-themed place, comes with such a nice view. It offers you so much glamour with its beautiful lights, gaming centres, the high class hotel, and extravagant parties. If you want to live it up, this is for you.

There are still so many more, but these were the few that caught my attention. Beauty may be in the eyes of the beholder, but not many people would have to try too hard to find these places mind-blowing.
